Settlement finally reached in Jack White's divorce

While the divorce between Jack White and Karen Elson was not was not without its speed bumps, the couple's divorce came to a relatively quiet end just before Thanksgiving. A Tennessee judge approved the agreement between the former White Stripes frontman and the British singer-songwriter on Nov 26. Neither party has commented on the settlement.

When the divorce was initially announced in September of 2011, the famous musicians decided to throw a party, signaling what seemed to be an amicable split. However, the proceedings moved slowly and the divorce dragged on for over two years. At one point earlier this year, White's ex-wife filed a restraining order against the famous guitarist. She claimed that he was acting violently towards her and their two children. White vehemently denied the allegations. An attorney for the rocker released a statement claiming that it would be incorrect to portray Mr. White as a person who is a danger to his family.

The divorce agreement will essentially maintain the ex-couple's current situation. The famous rocker will have around 150 days to spend with his two children every year, while Elson will have main custody. White will also be responsible for child support payments and health insurance, but he will not be paying alimony.

The property division section of the settlement may be the area of least contention, as the ex-spouses will simply be retaining the properties they currently live in. The couple did acquire several cars during their marriage, however. It's reported that a 2013 Tesla SP as well as a 1976 Citicar and a 1960 Thunderbird will be staying with Mr. White.

Celebrity couples often have a lot of assets to divide in addition to typical divorce factors such as child custody and alimony payments. The division of property can cause proceedings to get messy. However, for many people, there will typically be less to divide in a divorce. It could be argued that it's even more essential to have qualified legal help if a couple is battling over shared living space.
