Columbus Short involved in a high asset divorce

Columbus Short, a 31-year-old movie star from Hollywood who stars in the television show "Scandal," has been notified that his wife is filing for divorce. She and Short have not been together for a length of time and it appears that a professional may be needed to handle his affairs.

His spouse filed on April 15 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court in this case of high asset divorce. She filed and was granted a temporary restraining order against him also, as People Magazine reported.

They married in 2005 and became separated on April 7 because of irreconcilable differences. She is requesting full custody of their 2-year-old daughter in the divorce filing, although there is another child involved as well. This comes at a time when the media has reported many alleged domestic abuse charges against the star. Short was also arrested for a bar brawl that was a result of someone saying inappropriate things about his wife.

He has allegedly been thrown out of their home because he put a knife to his wife's throat and threatened to kill her and himself. In another incident, as the restraining order said, on April 7 Short became intoxicated and wanted to play a game of "Truth for Truth" with his wife. He inexplicably accused her of having an affair and threatened to slash her tires during the game.

Short discussed his divorce and problems with the media and said that his life had some of the best scriptwriters ever. He went on to say that it seems outlandish when his problems are repeated out loud. He cautioned his viewers not to believe everything they read.

This is not the first time his wife has filed for divorce from Short. In 2012 she filed for divorce but withdrew the request earlier in 2014. Short has been arrested in the past for criminal domestic violence and child abuse while in the presence of his wife and children in their family home.

If you find yourself part of a divorce, complicated or not, you may want to contact a professional who will have your best interests in mind, especially if there are assets involved that may be community property and involve a high dollar amount.
