Usher faces high asset divorce and wins custody battle

The famous singer, Usher, has admitted that one of the biggest mistakes he made was getting married. Marriage takes a lot of effort, something he was not prepared to give at the age of 28.

Divorce is difficult to go through in the best of circumstances. It can be contentious and often brings out the worst in us. Many times, a high asset divorce is reported in the media, and it can be truly embarrassing for everyone involved.

Usher told "O Magazine" in the September 2014 issue that he should have never gotten married. He said that he learned from the experience, even from the divorce.

He said that the general public is under the impression that he regrets his marriage because it ended in divorce. This is far from the truth. Usher states that he learned from the experience of marriage as well as the experience of getting divorced. He stated that he entered the process thinking that he knew what he was doing. He didn't.

He said that, in this case, he learned that "sometimes I think I know more than I actually know." In this case of high asset divorce, he may be right.

He and his ex-wife, a wardrobe stylist, were married in 2007, and they began to grow apart in 2009. They had two children who are now 5 and 6. There was a bitter custody battle for the children and in 2012, and the 35-year-old Usher won the battle.

The rapper says he is listening to those around him and even those from his past who tried to give him advice. He states that James Brown, another famous singer, told him that he needed to stay ready so that he would not have to get ready. This advice came to him from Brown just before they were to perform at the Grammy Award Ceremony in 2005.

If you are contemplating divorce, there is a good chance that you and your spouse have assets and debts that belong to both of you. If you have children, there may be custody issues that you are enmeshed in. Having a legal professional by your side who knows the laws of Illinois may make the process of determining child custody, child support and property division a bit easier.
