Child support for a special needs child

Parents who have a special needs child in Illinois may be surprised to discover that child custody laws do not address the unique and particular requirements of a special needs child. Fortunately, though, a single parent caring for a special needs child may still qualify to receive child support payments that reflect the higher costs of caring for such a child.

Child support issues in Illinois need an experienced attorney

Divorce leads to animosity and strife. In most cases, child support is one of the issues that brings out the fighter in many of us. It is so important to remember to put the best interests of the child first and try to keep them away from any arguing that may occur between you and your soon-to-be ex-spouse.

Getting a divorce in Illinois can be no-fault or at-fault

Getting a divorce in Illinois means you need to follow the rules of law. One of those rules is that in order to file for the divorce in the first place, you or your spouse must have been a resident of the state for 90 days. Even if you are in the military, this rule applies. Another law is that if you or your spouse are impotent, have a spouse already or have committed adultery, the divorce can be granted on those grounds.
